Is Anybody Out There?

I often wonder if anyone out there really wants to know the truth. Thre is so much wrong in our country today. Everyone seems to have crawled into a shell and hiding from reality.

I'm not sure if anyone takes the time to read this blog. It contains the truth and the reality of the way things are today. The news links available here are just the tip of the iceburg in terms of the state of the country, economy and government.

This blog is not meant to be a political forum but how could one not comment on politics in what history may describe as a monumental moment in our history. The campaigns roll on. The debates were many and probably over until after the Presidential nominees are officially elected at their respective national conventions.

We have heard plenty of commentary on a national health care plan, the wars in Iraq, Afganistan and the war "against terror". Yet, little is said about our economy and the current every day plight of our citizens. The government, including our candidates for President refuse to acknowledge that we are in a RECESSION and could very well be approaching a DEPRESSION.

Yes, we need a health care system and we need to protect ourselves from our enemies but first and foremost we need to protect ourselves against economic disaster. The economic news is not good and does not seem to be getting better, in fact, it is getting worse.

Other then big business, I don't know of any others doing well. Check the economy in Ohio. They lost 250,000 jobs last year. That tells me that there are that many people PLUS their families that are hurting. The number of vacant homes in Ohio, Michigan, parts of California and Florida tell me that there are many homeless. Food prices escalating as are fuel prices. Automobile reposessions are up maybe 40% and Cerberus, the private equity firm that has billions and owns Chrysler as well as GMAC (once the financial division of General Motors, is laying off 15% of the work force in their automotive finance unit. While Exxon Mobil reported an 11 BILLION Dollar PROFIT in their LAST QUARTER. Yes, quarter not year.

What is wrong with this picture? IS ANYBODY OUT THERE?
